 The fear of the dark side of hedges                                    हाते के अँधेरे हिस्से का भय,

 the back seat of the car, the empty house                         कार की पिछली सीट का, भय खाली मकान का

 rattling keys like a snake’s warning.                                  छनछनाती चाभियों का गुच्छा जैसे साँप की चेतावनी

 The fear of the smiling man                                              उसकी जेब में पड़ा चाकू इस इंतज़ार में है

 in whose pocket is a knife.
The fear of the serious man                                              कि धीरे से उतार दिया जाय मेरी पसलियों के बीच.

 in whose fist is locked hatred.                                           उसकी मुट्ठी में बंद है नफरत.

All it takes to cast a rapist to be able to see your body      बलात्कारी की भूमिका में उतरने के लिये काफी है

as jackhammer, as blowtorch, as adding-machine-gun.     कि क्या वह देख पाता है तुम्हारी देह को,

All it takes is hating that body                                              छेदने वाली मशीन की नज़र से,

your own, your self, your muscle that softens to flab.          दाहक गैस लैम्प निगाह से,

                                                                                                           अश्लील साहित्य और गन्दी फिल्मों की तर्ज़ पर.

All it takes is to push what you hate,                                   जरुरी है बस तुम्हारे शरीर से, तुम्हारी अस्मिता,

what you fear onto the soft alien flesh.                               तुम्हारे स्व, तुम्हारी कोमल मांसलता से

To bucket out invincible as a tank                                       नफरत करने भर की.

armored with treads without senses                                  यही काफी है कि तुम्हें नफरत है जिस चीज से,

to possess and punish in one act,                                     डरती हो तुम उस शिथिल पराये मांस के साथ जो-जो करने से

to rip up pleasure, to murder those who dare                    उसी के लिये मजबूर किया जाना.

live in the leafy flesh open to love.                                     संवेदनशून्य पहियों से सुसज्जित

                                                                                           किसी अपराजेय टैंक की तरह रौंदना,

                                                                                             अधिकार जमाना और सजा देना साथ

                                                                                                         चीरना-फाड़ना मज़ा लेना, 

                                                                                                         जो विरोध करे उसे क़त्ल करना

                                                                                                         भोगना मांसल देह काम-क्रीडा के लिये अनावृत.
